Dr Janell Lee DPT, BHSc(PT), NZRPT, SRPT
Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist
Janell is a physiotherapist with over 20 years of paediatric experience having worked in Singapore, Australia and New Zealand with a diverse group of children in a variety of settings such as acute hospitals (neonatal/ children ICU and special care nursery), mainstream and special schools, pre-schools, communities and homes. She is NDT (neurodevelopment treatment) trained in both infants and children, and is a certified infant massage instructor. Her special interest is in treating children with developmental delays/ disorders. She is a firm believer in early intervention with these children to help them achieve their highest quality of life.
Janell’s scope of practice includes working with premature infants, children with developmental delays, neuromuscular conditions, cerebral palsy, congenital syndromes, brain injury, muscular dystrophy and developmental coordination disorders (children who are clumsy). She also manages children with orthopaedic conditions such as torticollis, plagiocephaly, CTEV, Erb’s Palsy and scoliosis. She has experience in managing children with post-botox injections or post surgical procedures (eg: SDR, SEMLS). Janell also manages children with chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, pneumonia or bronchopulmonary dysplasia. She conducts 1-1 hydrotherapy sessions.
Janell teaches handling techniques and positioning to caregivers. She recommends suitable adaptive equipment, mobility aids and orthotics and teaches clients how to use them.
Janell believes that young children are best treated in familiar environments, and so provides individualised home-based therapy at the client’s home. If you have any clients who would benefit from a consultation with Janell, please feel free to contact her.

How it all started:
Janell's interest in helping young children started when she was very young. As the eldest in a family of 7 children, she was tasked with helping to take care of her younger siblings. Janell has always had a soft spot for little kids.
In physiotherapy school, Janell enjoyed her paediatric studies and paediatric clinical placements. Learning about motor development from birth to a little person, reinforced her belief that every new life is a miracle and should be cherished.
A volunteer trip to a developing country after her physiotherapy studies, opened her eyes to the long-term effects of not receiving early intervention for physical disabilities. She went to an orphanage to treat children who have physical disabilities. In her daily commute to and from the orphanage, she witnessed adults with severe physical deformities. The image of a grown man crawling sideways like a crab to cross the road haunts her to this present day. It cemented Janell's decision to treat kids, so that she can help these kids as they battle to attain their motor skills, and to prevent long-term physical deformities.
Janell sees it as a privilege and a joy to work with these children and to get to know them as they journey to reach their fullest potential. These children and their families inspire Janell to keep striving to always give her best to these children.
